Annual Meeting
Yampa Valley Electric Association, Inc. is a member-owned rural electric cooperative. The Association Bylaws state, “The Annual Meeting of the Members shall be held annually, at such time and place designated from time to time by the Board of Directors … for the purpose of electing Directors, passing upon reports covering the previous fiscal year and transaction such other business as may come before the meeting. The Annual Meeting will be:

You have a voice in the way your electric cooperative is run by voting for the individuals who serve on YVEA’s Board of Directors. It’s YVEA’s Board who determine our Association’s policies and direction. The Board consists of nine members, and each member serves a three-year term.
In years when there is a contest, a mail-in ballot is sent to each member; you have the opportunity to vote even if you can’t attend the meeting. Ballots are mailed out in late May, if there is a contested race, and must be received at the Association’s headquarters in Steamboat Springs by 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the Annual Meeting.
A nomination for director may be made only by written petition signed by at least fifteen (15) members of the Association. The petition must be filed at the Association offices no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008.
Association members who live in one of the districts up for election, and meet all other qualifications for candidacy (Bylaws, Article III - Directors), can run for their district’s board seat. The YVEA districts open for election in the year 2008 are:
District #2 - Incumbent Pud Stetson of Craig, CO has returned a petition and is currently running unopposed.
District #3 - Incumbent Jim Simos of Craig, CO has returned a petition and is currently running unopposed.
District #6 - Incumbent William Haight of Steamboat Springs, CO has returned a petition and is currently running unopposed.
