Yampa Valley Electric Receives FEMA Grant for Wyoming Work
(BAGGS, WY, STEAMBOAT SPRINGS & CRAIG, CO,), In early 2019, the Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) worked with the State of Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to apply to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for grant funding through their Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The grant request was made because of the persistent wind damage that had caused the electrical feeder line serving Baggs, WY, to deteriorate.
YVEA was recently notified that it had received $247,929 in grant funding that will be used towards an electric line hardening project to better serve members in the Baggs area. Project construction will begin in the summer of 2020 and will replace the existing line with an upgraded, wind-resistant line.
For the public’s safety and the safety of our crews, YVEA asks that you use caution near our work sites and whenever you see a YVEA or contracting crew working near the road. YVEA wants you, our crews and contractors to get home safely.
