Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) is applying for a grant to bring high speed internet to the East Elkhead-Craig, and Hayden, COG areas through our subsidiary, Luminate . One of the factors in grant funding is current, real time internet service speeds. You can help us win the grant to bring true high-speed internet to your community by performing a speed test at your home or business in East Elkhead and the COG areas. The more participants who take the speed test and fill out the survey, the stronger our grant application will be.
Simply fill out the survey below. The survey will guide you to perform a speed test which may take a few minutes.
It is very important that the survey and speed test be performed from your East Elkhead or Hayden COG area location.
The survey will close January 10, 2022
Taking the survey does not require you to sign up for broadband service. We will keep you posted on the progress of this exciting project. If you have any questions, please call us at 970-879-1160 ext. 2245 and leave a message and we will contact you within 1-2 business days.
Thank you for helping us with this important step toward receiving this grant funding.
Background
In late 2018, the YVEA Board of Directors voted to deploy fiber to the home internet service to our membership via our fully owned subsidiary Luminate Broadband. We are currently serving the Craig, Hayden, and South & North Routt, communities. To continue building broadband service to our rural and remote members, we will need grant funding support. YVEA is applying to the State Broadband Fund for funding support to deliver service to East Elkhead and Hayden COG areas.
The State Broadband Fund determines funding eligibility as any locations that have service speeds below 25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. In order to prove our eligibility to receive funding in this area, we need actual, verified speed test data. We are asking our East Elkhead and COG area membership to take a survey which includes a speed test to verify current service speeds.
