Yampa Valley Electric is applying for a grant to bring high speed internet to Maybell. Without this grant, YVEA will not be able to serve this area until 2022 at the earliest. Grant funding is determined by current, real time service speeds. Please help us by by performing a speed test at your home or business in Maybell area. The more participants who take the speed test and fill out the survey, the stronger our grant application will be.
Simply fill out the survey below. The survey will guide you to perform a speed test and the test can take a few minutes.
It is very important that the survey and speed test be performed from your Maybell area location.
The survey will close June 20, 2020.
Thank you for your participation. Taking the survey does not require you to sign up for broadband service. We will keep you posted on the progress of this exciting project.
If you have any questions please call our main line at 970-879-1160 and leave a message and we will contact you within 1-2 business days.
In late 2018, the Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) Board of Directors voted to deploy Gigabit fiber to our membership via our fully owned subsidiary Luminate Broadband. In 2019 and 2020 we are building service to the Craig, Hayden and Steamboat Springs Communities. To deploy broadband service to our rural and remote members in a reasonable time frame, we will need grant funding support. YVEA is applying to the State Broadband Fund for funding support to deliver service to Maybell.
The State Broadband Fund determines funding eligibility as any locations that have service speeds below 25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. In order to prove our eligibility to receive funding in this area, we need actual, verified speed test data. We are asking our Maybell area membership to take a survey which includes a speed test to verify current service speeds.
