Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) is announcing that the director nomination period will be opening on April 10th, 2026. The districts up for election this year are District #2: Ray DuBois, District #3: Sasha Nelson, and District #6: Tom Fox.
A nomination for Director may be made only by written petition signed by at least fifteen (15) members of the Association. The nominating petition must be filed at the principal office of the Association no later than sixty (60) days prior to the date of the Annual Meeting at which the election is to be held. Petitions for nomination of directors will be made available beginning April 10, 2026 and must be returned to YVEA offices or via email by April 25, 2026.
Ballots must be turned into the front desk at either office and should not be left in the after hours payment drop box. Our offices are open from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
In the event that no nominating petitions have been properly made and timely filed, the vacancies occurring shall be filled in accordance with Article III, Section 4 of Association Bylaws. In the event that no contest has been created by nominating petitions properly made and timely filed and the election of the sole nominees is assured because no other nominations can be made, then in order to save unnecessary expense, the election of Directors shall automatically be dispensed with and the sole nominees shall be deemed elected.
Ballots will be mailed and emailed on May 22, 2026. To be valid and counted, each ballot must be signed by the consumer-member whose name is on the label and the ballot must be received at the location of the third-party ballot counter by June 18, 2026. Should we have a contested election, we will send out information about our new hybrid voting options so members can either mail their ballots in or file them electronically.
Information on how to become a candidate, petitions for nomination of directors, and Association bylaws, are available at the Steamboat Springs and Craig YVEA offices, and on our website at https://www.yvea.com/about-us/annual-meeting/ . Nominations packet will be available on the website and in the offices starting on April 10th. Completed nomination packets must be returned to YVEA offices before April 25, 2026, or via email on April 25, 2026.
