Yampa Valley Electric purchases its power from the Western Area Power Administration (a federal power marketing agency) and Xcel Energy.
Mission
Yampa Valley Electric Association is a cooperative that enhances the lives of its member owners through technology and consulting resources that deliver clean, safe, and reliable electric service in an environmentally and financially responsible manner.

Our vision is to build a brighter future for our member-owners.
To bring that vision alive, YVEA employs approximately 80 employees in 6 departments:

YVEA has adopted and distributed organizational policies and procedures, and provided training to all personnel to assist in its diversity initiative. The continuation of training and the goals set within the Strategic Plan demonstrate the organization’s commitment to respecting the contributions of all employees. Ultimately we seek to enhance our organizational culture through leadership, policies, and practices.
Board of Directors
The member-owners elect 9 individuals from the general membership to represent them on the Board of Directors.
3 Directors are elected each year on a rotating basis.
