The plugs utilize 2.4GHz Wifi Network to push real-time data to your devices. Visit this page for more information about Wifi requirements.
No. Emporia devices will work with any home internet service that meets the Wifi requirements.
If you have Luminate Internet Service and need help extending your Wi-Fi signal or creating a 2.4GHz network, contact our support team.
Short outages (under ~20 minutes) — The plug stores measurement data locally and uploads it when the connection returns. You won't lose any detail
Longer outages (over ~20 minutes) — On-device storage fills up, so per-minute detail may be lost. The plug continues tracking cumulative usage and averages it across the outage period when it reconnects. Totals will be correct but fine-grained data won't
App control while offline — Not available. Without a Wi-Fi and cloud connection, the plug can only be controlled using the physical power button on the device itself
Schedules while offline — Continue to work. Schedules are stored locally on the plug, so scheduled on/off events still fire during an outage. Changes to schedules require the plug to be back online

This Program is 100% free to individuals and businesses in our service territory. We are offering up to 4 plugs per address, and the continued application usage is not subscription based.
- We want to provide our membership with a more insightful energy experience.
- Want to offer a tool to help members better control their in-home devices. We want to introduce and normalize the idea of scheduling devices to use power only when necessary.
- Help answer the question, “how much is this device costing me”?

YVEA vetted several similar products in the market, and Emporia was the one we felt had the best privacy policy. For this program, YVEA has opted not to enroll in a third party "utility integration" with the manufacturer, Emporia. This means that YVEA will have no insight to any of your data.
However, when setting up the device, you must agree to Emporia's privacy policy. Your data will not be sold to third parties but may be collected for continual improvement of the product. The Emporia privacy Policy includes the collection and generation of identity, device, power, commercial, inference, user content and payment data. We encourage our members to read through Emporia’s Privacy Policy, and decide whether they subscribe to it or not.
This will be the most important part of your setup in order to gain accurate data. Follow this guide to properly align the Emporia App with YVEA’s Rates. We recommend that you select the “YVEA Verified Plan” as opposed to entering our rate structure manually. Selecting this will also ensure that if our rates ever change, you don’t have to remember to update the rate in the app.
If you’re having difficulty finding what rate you’re on, feel free to call us (970-879-1160)
