Hot, dry, and windy weather is forecasted for the next five days at least. Baggs and surrounding areas are in Red Flag Warnings for the entire week, while the rest of the system is in a Red Flag Warning today and Tuesday. The weather in certain areas looks like it will most likely flip to Red Flag Warnings later in the week. In the interest of not bothering members with multiple calls and emails this week, we wanted to send out this email to let members know that if there is a Red Flag Warning issued for your location, we will be moving our system into Fire Protection Mode. Our system will follow the timing of the warnings, meaning that on Monday, our system will be in Fire Protection Mode from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. We will be posting daily about the Red Flag Warnings and Fire Protection Mode on our website and Facebook, so for the most up to date information, please check there.
During Fire Protection Mode, members may use their power as normal, and they will not notice a service interruption unless there is an actual outage. YVEA will only activate Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) if weather conditions change drastically or at the direction of emergency management. Members should anticipate longer and more frequent outages, due to the more sensitive setting for our system and crews needed to inspect lines in order to ensure they are free of ignition sources. For any questions, please call us at 970-879-1160 or visit https://www.yvea.com/outages-safety/wildfire-mitigation/ to learn more about our fire mitigation plans.
