YVEA is Returning to Normal Operations for the Evening, Returning to Fire Protection Mode 7.30.24 at 11:00 am

July 29th, 2024 - The National Weather Service has ended the Red Flag Warning for the evening. However, it has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday, July 30th, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm for Moffat County, Baggs, Savery, and Dixon areas. This means that our crews are currently working to return our system to normal operations, but will put this system back into Fire Protection Mode (FPM) starting at 11:00 am on Tuesday.  To view the updated Red Flag Warning, please visit https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.5124037&lon=-107.5472412

To view a map of the areas affected by the Red Flag Warning, go to the National Weather Service website at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=psr

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly, including wind and low relative humidity.

YVEA will put the system in FPM again for the affected areas starting at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 30th. When our system is in FPM, members should anticipate longer and more frequent outages. We currently have no plans to implement a complete shutdown of our system—we would only do so if conditions change drastically or at the direction of emergency management.

To learn more about what FPM is and why YVEA goes into this mode, please visit https://www.yvea.com/news-releases/red-flag-warnings-and-yvea-operations/

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you informed if conditions progress and the utility moves to the next operating mode. Please stay safe!
